Hi all!

I was at the coin shop today and decided to dig through the cheap foreign coin bin. I found a few that were from the 1800s, so I figured for next to nothing I really couldn't go wrong. I'm not expecting them to be worth anything more than what I paid, but I wanted to see if anyone here could ID them and give me any info. Here's my less than spectacular pics:

I'm pretty sure that the larger one in the middle is Italian...I think that's what it says. Not sure about the origin of the smaller two...possibly also Italian? They look similar in style. In case it's hard to see in the pics, the two smaller ones are both from 1854...the larger is from 1894.

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

Yes your right - the central one is Italian. The other two are French.

The Italian one is in quite nice condition - though not very valuable - the two French ones are a bit on the worn side.

Thanks Bacchus2! Yeah, the Italian one is definitely in decent condition. The 2 French (thanks for the info!) ones are pretty far gone, but I couldn't pass up coins from the 1800s for a quarter each :) The back of the 1st one is almost completely smooth. Oh well...they'll go in my random foreign coin box with the rest. Thanks again!

The "A" on the right one indicates that the mint was Paris - it's the most common mint - alas the other one is too far gone to narrow that down.

The French Emperor depicted on them (Napoleon III) has quite an interesting history
