I have recently started collecting nickles and stumbled accross a 1973 D Jefferson nickle that was struck on a 35% silver 56% copper 9% manganese war time planchet. Just wondering if anyone else has ever heard of another one of these and what it might be worth it was recently graded EF40 so its in good shape. thanks for reading

Who determined the composition of this nickel?

I'm no pro, but it seems highly unlikely that a '73-D could be struck on a War Nickel planchet.

There are some really good nickel pros here, but I can tell you now that !
