I found a bag full of AU wheat pennies from the forties. There were a few odd memorial cents, and this was one of them.

There seems to be a horizonal bar at the top of the D, with maybe a hint of a serif? You can see this bar shining on the first photo.

The inside loop of the mint mark seems to contain the inside loop of another D, to the south. And there seems to be strong doubling to the south on the bottom of the MM, obvious in the second photo but noticeable in the first.

Just a disclaimer, I won't post anything on the forum without first researching it in my materials and on coppercoins.

I'm testing out my new camera! :D

I see a normal coin with some circulation damage and Machine Doubling on the mint mark and on the bottom of the 8 in the date.

coop, you are right. Before posting, checked the date for doubling, but didnt see it. But after double checking, it is very noticeable on the 2. Thanks!
