I was reading todays newpaper and I saw an article telling about the Liberty dollar. It is not made by the us mint and is a crime if you spend it... It is backed up by actual silver and everything! The coin is almost pure silver. I was wondering if this would be something nice to add to my collection here is the website where you can buy them http://www.libertydollar.org/catalo...oducts_id=45 Please post your comments on this.

the $1.00 coin is one twentieth of a half ounce of .999 fine Silver thats about $0.25 worth of silver. I beleive I would pass on this, and especially pass on the higher denominations

I read an article on these quite some time ago. Its amazing how many traders are accepting these as tender despite them not being legal tender. Thanks for the link, I am quite interested in buying one of these.

one-twentieth-half ounce? Who writes like that? What does that mean? Is this a Chinese outfit?

One of the categories on their web site is called: "Circulating Currency". Wouldn't it have to be backed by the U.S. Mint in order to be called circulating currency? Have they just called it that even though it is not legal tender?

I think I will pass on the "Liberty Dollar" opportunity.
Hmmm... on second thought, I'm absolutely certain I will not be placing an order anytime soon.

My take on the Liberty Dollar - nothing more than a novelty item.

why would you want to pay $2 for 25¢ of silver? That just doesn't sound bright to me, especially since there is no collector value.

Pass on it and lose no sleep doing so. Someone is just trying to make money on all of those who don't ask questions. Buy a silver round if you need some silver and take a look at the threads regarding silver purchases.
