This should make the third 1958 D RPM of the night!! My second and Wild Bill has one, too. All three are different. WOW!

Hell of a day for me. I went through 15 pounds of wheats last week and found 1 RPM and an extra eyelid. I go through 2 rolls today and find 5 RPMs and earlier I found two RPD IH cents!

I'm gonna keep all my pennies and go through them again now that I've got my eye and mind more in tune. I'm sure there are many other varieties, but I honestly can't see the doubling on the reverse 90% of the time, even in pictures. And I'm not good at extra thickness either. I think what I need to do is go out and buy varieties with these traits so I know what to look for.

Nice work Drandman2!

I find that this is how it goes. I pretty much need to "personally" find a variety and then study it to really learn the "pick up points." Once I have found something, my chances of finding it again usually increase dramatically. I also go on long streaks where I find very little, only to have a hot streak shortly after. Persistence is key!

I went many years just vaguely looking for varieties, but not really knowing what to look for. I guarantee that I missed a ton of great stuff. Then, after I purchased and really studied a few examples (thinking I would never find them myself), I really learned what to look for and my find rates started increasing.

Then came the discovery of coppercoins and this website which opened a whole new can of worms:). I have collected coins for well over 30 years and have never had as much fun as now!

Definitely keep those 15 pounds of wheats around to check again after you have really studied some known varieties, you might be pleasantly surprised. I found a bag of cents I had set aside many years ago marked "checked for rpm's" - what a joke. There was a ton of stuff in that bag I had missed due to my earlier inexperience. I bet if I checked it again now, I would still find a few things.

You are on a roll and it will only get better as you learn more! Keep up the good work!

Chungly, thanks for the encouragement! Sure does take a large amount of knowledge and a great eye to catch this stuff!
