so from roll searching I have a ton of 70 s pennies but I cannot for the life of me tell the difference between the small and large date. this may be because I only have large date but who knows. is it completely obvious when you have the two types next to eachother? here are a couple that I have: also this is the site I use to tell the difference. http://www.lincolncentresource.com/...alldate.html

yeah when looking at my 70s, I was mostly looking for the curl of the 9 rather than the top of the 7 because the 9 is more distinctive. but I'm not sure how obvious a small date 70 will be if I actually find one or if I just cant tell the difference.
by the way, I need a nice magnifying glass, what would any of you recommend that is sturdy, works great, and not too expensive?

I like the 16X loupe opposed to the 10X and also for taking images I use the following, the cost of the Zorb is less than $50.

wow so you don't need a camera or anything? the zorb does it all?can it take pictures of larger coins as well? I've been looking for a way to take photos that are good like yours without having to buy an expensive digital camera.
so you use a 16X loupe, and you only mainly use your zorb for photo taking or for looking closer at errors?

I've never seen it written anywhere but on the large date, the "7" seems to be longer than the "1". whereas on the small date the 7 and 1 terminate at the same point at the bottom.
Most people I know try and look for the curl of the 9

To answer the original question, they are all large dates.
