Talking about modern Keys got me looking into a few coins missing from my (almost) complete modern BU collection. I have been collecting mint sets, proof sets, and silver proof sets in an effort to get every coin the mint has produced in regards to pennies, nickles, dimes, quarters, halves, and dollars. I am not into the commemoratives as of yet. That being said I have a question as I set out to purchase the 1997S silver set.

I need the 1997S silver dime, quarter, and half but it would be nice to have the satin finish nickel too! Is there any difference in the Prestige set (other then the Botanic dollar and nickel) compared to the silver proof set, or the premier set?

Trying to decide if purchasing the Prestige Set would fill my needs for the silver dime, quarter, half and have the added bonus of selling the botanical dollar and not having to buy the nickle.

Second question is regarding purchasing the botanical set, provided it fills my above mentioned needs. Please give me your experience and knowledge about purchasing this set. For instance, I have herd that the nickel can have toning on the back side from the packaging. What is the best price? ect...

Thanks in advance!

Prestige Proof sets were first produced in 1983. Prestige sets contain a commemorative dollar and half dollar for that year as well as a proof issue of the Lincoln Cent, Jefferson nickel, Roosevelt dime, Washington quarter and Kennedy half-dollar.

The set would be of no use for what you want to collect, as you wouldn't be getting a silver dime, quarter or half

The Silver or the Premier set carries the silver coins you are looking for

*edited to add*
The only difference between the Silver and Premier is the case it comes in

I USED to collect those type of sets until I saw the resale values. Then I stopped all special types of those sets.

Oh, bummer! I was really hoping I could get the satin nickel de-facto. We'll, thank you for saving me the expense. I will look at the botanical set with new informed eyes now.

The Satin nickel does not come in ANY of the proof sets. It comes in the Botanical gardens set (I want to say Coin and currency set But I don't think there was a piece of currency with it) with the Unc botanical dollar.
