Silver plating adds very little value to a replica.

My refiner used to pay $1.60/# for silver plate. When he'd get a railroad car full, he'd send it to the copper smelter.

Silver plated in pure gold has some value. I saw a St. Gaudens set sell on ebay last night with a two oz. silver St. Gaudens plated in 24k, and it sold for 130 bucks. Sounds like bad deal, but the kicker is it also had a 24k 1.5 gram St. Gaudens gold coin in the case set as well. Each of those coins alone would bring 100 or more on ebay, so that was a good deal, but I can't buy any more gold or silver for a couple of weeks, so just bad timing. But who knows, the only bid may have been way higher than 125 dollars...

But just alloy plated in silver or gold, stay away, like a bad plaque....
