Guys I know either have canvas bags or the heavy plastic bags that the banks ship the coins off in. They re-inforce the boxes for strength with more cardboard and tape and then add lots of tape in every direction to form a sort of coccoon on the outside of the box. Tape is a good thing!

I usually roll my cents back up after doing a box. I usually get around 700+/-. Three brinks boxes fit perfectly in a medium flat rate box. That's only $75 face! Now, if I'm filling bags, I have ten of the plastic tubes for holding pennies. Each one of them holds 52 flat,un-bent cents. I just fill those 10 up...that makes 10 times 52 = 520. I mark it down on paper and fill again. Simple math. I will throw a couple extra coins in just to make sure a bent coin didn't throw the count off.

How much have you guys profited on Copper Pennies. This idea came into my head on its own started investigating ebay, and local roll searchers. Took it to a new higher level. advice?

I have a plastic gallon sized jar that once held pickled eggs.I fill it and shake to settle. It holds $50.60 to $51.80. (I checked it 8 times at the coin counter). I put them in the plastic bank bags to sell and two bags will fit in a medium flat rate box.The weight comes in at 68 lbs and a couple ounces.Easiest way I can think of.

iMoneyCoins: if you are a roll searcher and are going through boxes of pennies regularly, then it is nice to save coppers to sell them because you are looking through pennies already... but if you just thought of the idea to make money, it is a bad idea. the time it takes to sort and amount of boxes you need to find coppers is not worth the time, effort, and gas money. however, like I said, if you are already a roll searcher then it is a good idea. you get to do your hobby and then make extra cash on the side. just my opinion. if I were not a roll searcher then there is no way in heck I would save copper pennies.

murrellington is right and that is what I've been saying all along....I search pennies for varieties and errors so it is easy to put the coppers off to the side....but there is no way I'd do just coppers for money without a machine and a large supply of pennies.

People sell coins? Guess they do or I wouldn't be able to buy them. So far I've never sold a coin.

Golden Miner...my bank has a counter in the customer area that charges 5%...but why do you have massive amounts ? From searching or from sorting out the coppers ?

Where are you guys getting your coin wrappers? The banks only give me a couple at a time for free and the ones available at Wal-mart are too expensive.

You can check on ebay, but I never wrap mine...I either sell them in $50 bags or take the zincs to the counting machine.

Hey Maineman I do not have any plans to search pennies, just a project to sell coppers and get my kids employed making some extra money while they go to college. I saw your other post, and I live in the Florida panhandle. I guess what I really need to find is one or several people who like to search the new ones for the errors and see if they would like to buy them, they would not have to worry about ordering cents and would have less to return and look through with out the coppers. Yes with that any wheat's would be gone, but I don't think there are that many wheat's left, I guess in that scenario it would have to be people who just are looking for the errors in the newer zincs, idea probably wouldn`t pan out, just a thought. I am not sure where you post more so I am posting this in both paces.......Darin

GoldenMiner ...that is exactly what I was thinking.Cents are a pain to get from the bank and if I were closer, I would gladly take $10K just to search. There are a few guys from Florida that search pennies and I'm wondering if a dedicated post might get some interest.Personally I have found more errors and varieties in the zincs and wouldn't miss the coppers anyway.I know the rules don't allow you to post for sale or trade, but I'm wondering if this might be OK since there is really no profit involved, just an exchange of denominations.Might ask a moderator to find the bast way.
