I just bough this one. It's a 1955 s Wheat penny with one filled 5. It's in great condition. Does anyone know anything about it? What's it worth guys?

It's worth about $5 according to Numismedia. The filled 5 is a die chip and does not add any value.

Except that it happens to be a mid stage example of 1955S-1MM-002, a repunched mintmark. Still not worth very much because they are somewhat common - but it is a die variety, and not because of the die chip. John was correct about the die chip - they add no value to the coins.

I can't tell you how many times that I have bought a coin looking for one thing, only to bring it home and discover something completely new. Just last weekend I bought a bunch of random british large pennies for .10c each plus one half pence at the same price just to show the size differences to my kids. While the large pennies were all worn and common, the half pence turned out to be a nice incomplete planchet error!

Nice pickup, Dmh222! Given the condition, that coin has now got to be worth at least $5.00 IMHO. You should be able to make out the split serf's (doubling) on the top right of the S mint mark which is an indicator of the repunched mintmark (RPM). And I think Coppercoins meant to call it a late die state example of 1955S-1MM-002. Good work!

No, I meant what I meant. It's a mid stage example in late die state. They are unrelated to one another.
