I see alot of these, in the scope it looks as if the top layer of the letter/number was peeled back, but is raised, so not real sure. Been throwing them back, but have seen a few examples on coppercoins that lists them as double dies?

If several devices are the same, then it's Machine Doubling. If just one device (Not counting the mint mark) then it is coin contact ( PMD) If the mint mark only is affected with the flat shelf like doubling, then likely it is Machine Doubling. (Some mint marks are taller than other devices making it easier to get damaged while it is ejected.)

I'm not sure why get into the mintmark in this thread(?). The image in question is the are of LIBERTY.
