Hello, alanp, and welcome to CCF!

You have to give us more than a "pfennig". In 1860 German states had their own coinage, it wasn't a unified Empire yet. Not all states issued a pfennig in 1860, but I know of at least four. Picture would help in IDing it, and besides the value depends on the condition of a coin, so a pic would give us an idea of that too.

I'll work on getting a picture up. The condition isn't very good, but you can still make out everything on the coin. The back of it is in great shape and the year and the B mint mark are really clear. It looks like it has a phoenix on the other side.

this is what it looks like, but in worse shape. I thought a picture would help at least ID it. Thanks for all your help
Rest in Peace

That thread lists some values for this Austrian coin, alamp1983 - maybe you missed them?

So it's not a pfennig then?
As it is pointed out in that old thread it is Austrian 1 kreuzer, mintmark B stands for Kremnitz (or Kremnica).
My catalog gives the same values as for the one with A mintmark (quoted in the other thread).
Since you state that the condition of the coin is not great, I'd say it's just a few cents worth. (But if you think about all the history behind it it's priceless! )

By the way, the "bird" is not a phoenix but rather a double-headed eagle.

thanks. I plan on keeping it and just knowing it's age is worth having it.
