This one peaked my curiousity. It's an 1855-O
Seated Liberty half dollar - arrows at date - however, it would appear that someone, years ago, tried to alter the date. My question is - why? With the arrows, it couldn't be made into a 1835, also - no 1835 O SL halves listed. And, the value of both in G-4 is about equal. Do y'all think someone tried to alter the date, or was it just malicious mischief?
Also, I notice doubling on the date which might have increased it's value; however, with it being defaced the way it is, it's probably worth no more than the current bullion price. Any comments?
