I just recently aquired 5 OLD Silver Dollar coins and have a few questions

1) Some are a little dirty - best way to clean them? Should I clean them? They all appear to have been in circulation ...
2) Should I sell them - not sure how to grade the coin and do not want to get 'ripped off' so to speak

Coins are as follows
1> 1885 Dollar - 2 chips on outer ring -
2> 1879 Dollar - No visible chips on coin but finish looks less than perfect
3> 1879 Dollar - No visible chips on coin but finish looks less than perfect
4> 1900 Dollar - No visible chips on coin but finish looks less than perfect
5> 1922 Dollar - No visible chips on coin but finish looks less than perfect

Any thoughts or suggestions will be welcomed

Thanks in advance :)

Welcoome to Coin Community!

First of all, don't clean any of the coins. There are extreme cases where cleaning is necessary but that is when there is PVC or some other harmful chemical on the coin that causes damage.

For grading, I would suggest purchasing a Photograde book. You can also post pictures of your coins here on the forum and we can help you grade them. We have a number of experts on silver dollars that can give you good information.
