How high of a grade would this kind of coin need to be to make it worthwhile sending in to grade? I honestly have no clue, and wouldn't want to get it graded if it wouldn't be worth much. Please help, I can try to get more pics up in a few... Thanks

I'm certain that's an Accented Hair. To answer your question, PCGS runs PF 64 at $35.00, PF 65 at $55.00 & PF 66 at $70.00. I honestly don't think yours is over a 66 due to the spots but that's just a guess.

You have a great proof there and I would go ahead and send it into a TPG. As long as you don't mind paying the fee required . The accentuated hair value is quite a bit higher than the standard proof, plus the premium goes higher when the coin is slabbed. I don't see how you could go wrong.

It does look like it has the missing serif die marker like this one...

you might not see it very well with my garbage pics here, but it also has the marker on the reverse (FG initials)... not bad for spot... the sad thing is this coin shop that I frequented daily(where I purchased this and many others) is now closed for business ... Now I gotta find me a new coin shop... Thanks for the help, hopefully I can get it graded soon, probably by ANACS because I don't have a membership anywhere but I plan to update with the verdict...

Is that die marker (missing sherif on the I) for proof and BS strikes?

The Accented Hair variety is not found on business strikes so the markers are proof-only.

another die marker is the initials "FG" on the reverse... If the g looks like this- G ... or if it is just rounded...
