As I looks through Coppercoins.com, I see a lot of variations of mint marks, most just look like MD to me. Is there something in particular I should be looking for. Of coarse if it were a complete double it would be noticeable, but some seem real hard to differentiate between RPM and MD. I look for the flat doubling when I am searching, but it seems alot harder on these than lettering and such. am I looking for positioning, extreme raising of the additional marks or what? Here is an example I found tonight, which if were on lettering or date I would chalk it up to MD, but on mint marks I'm not sure? Most of the pics I see on coppercoins I would chalk up to MD.

here is an example from coppercoins. I can sort of understand the the middle, looks a little rounded and raised, but the bottom marks looks like MD or plate splitting to me?

The 1982-D Cent you posted is just Machine Doubling. Look at the top of the mint mark. You can see the die movment lines in that area. kind of like another coin I found years ago that show the same affect on the lower edges of the devices:

Note the lower lines formed on the under part of the devices from metal movement.

The first coin posted is coin wear. The ridge has been rubbed or scraped leaving a sharp edge that may appear to be doubling....nothing else.

The next coin posted is a repunched mintmark. There are raised areas that are separate from the mintmark in the field corresponding to a light repunching to the southeast.

I am not sure how "many" of the listed repunched mintmarks could look like Machine Doubling. The difference between the two is rather obvious with a little experience and study.
