1984 D Olympics (LA) Silver Dollar BU ms69 $10,000

I use numismatic for a general price guide as it seems to be better then the Red Book, but in the commemorative section I noticed that above.

How many MS-69's have been slabbed? The early modern commems typically don't grade as high as the recent ones. A MS-69 might be a pop 1 coin with none finer. A coin like that gets a silly money bid from registry collectors when it comes to auction and that bid gets reflected in the price guide.

The guy is a dreamer. The 1983-84 are not in high demand at this time. Silver value rules in this case.

Certainly a case of a coin only being worth what someone is willing to pay for it. 10k.....wishful thinking in my opinion. I would be curious what the population is though.

I never said they were in high demand, almost all sell for melt and I thought it was interesting that the price guide said that much for something that looks almost 100% alike when you get them from the mint
