I am new here and this is my first post, so here goes.

I just bought six 1975 US Mint Sets looking for Type 1 IKE's and all 6 sets contained both P's and D's, Type 1's which was great, but that is not the subject of this post, so here is the jest of it.

As I was about to open one of the '75D Cello's, I noticed something odd, the Jefferson nickel was inserted into the Cello backwards! I mean the head (obverse) was facing the tails (reverse) of all the other coins in cello wrapper the mint set came from the Mint. In essence, the Ike, Kennedy, Washington, Roosevelt and Lincoln Busts were on the same side of the Mint Cello as the Jefferson Monticello.

Has anyone ever seen this before?

If kept intack, how much would the whole D Mint Set be worth?
Factor into that, the IKE is a Type 1 and get this, the Dime is a FB or full Band and the Jefferson is an FS or Full Step.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated

First and Foremost! Enjoy the Forum.

I don't think I'd pay any more for it than another. As a matter of fact, I'd be suspect of the set.

Not worth any premium, this happens. It's more interesting when you get a duplicate/missing coin, those may be worth a slight premium.

to the Community!

I agree, it is not really worth anything extra. You may get a slight premium for it on ebay, but lose that premium in fees.

Packaging errors do occur and generally will not affect value. Just be glad you got a backwards nickel instead of two 1975D dimes

I believe the '75-D is a much better date in FB but might be confused as I haven't followed these long. Rare gem FB bring hundreds or sometimes thousands of dollars. Don't get your hopes too high though as PCGS demands the entire split to get the designation and the right side is usually too weak.

Upside down coins are not especially more common than other packaging errors but don't attract much interest so no premium probably.

I saw a couple of Mint Sets with coins facing the wrong way too. I thought they were kinda cool just because they were different however don't suppose there is a very high premium on them.
