Seller claims all these coins were purchased on ebay under the premise that they were genuine (i.e. not marked COPY or REPLICA) and this clown is trying to re-sell them.

Good question on reporting him. Even though we all know by now that they are fake, they still are not stamped or identified, so...

My reading of his auction posting is that it's a protest against fakes/replicas/counterfeits on ebay... Now, if you are really dumb enough to go ahead and bid, after he has done everything to tell you they're fake, go ahead and he'll ship for a buck. It really doesn't seem like he has any real intent upon selling the lot.

At least that's my take on what he said.
Rest in Peace

The listing makes no sense. He lists fakes, but pictures yet another date. His minimum for this $5 novelty value lot is ridiculous.

. When did PCGS start numbering fakes?

Finally, if they came back fake, why wouldn't you just get your money back from the sellers?

I agree with JMerrick on this one, that's exactly what it is, a protest against the scam artist that sold him fake coins on ebay. I actually thought the description at the bottom was quite funny myself...

I stress that each of these coins is PHONY a REPLICA or CLEANED

There is a big difference between fake and cleaned - i.e., if these coins came back in a PCGS Genuine slab, that's a whole lot different than body bagged with (I believe the code is) Questionable Authenticity.

Of course, I think others are right that they are making a statement here.

Also of interest - I checked this user's feedback and they have been both a multiple buyer from and a seller to the infamous nancye913 - widely accused of doctoring coins. This is a user who has been around the block. My alarm bells are on full alert...

Reading that auction twisted my brain into a pretzel.
If he's making a point somewhere, couldn't he be more direct?

He is stating what all the scammers do when they try to pass off fakes.. making a point with ebay about how far things have gotten out of hand by combining all the things people say to get around the system....even to the point of picturing a coin he isn't even selling. And yotie may be right about him being burned.

I don't see any reason for alarm bells KenKat...he is selling nothing.

efj36 and nancye913 have 12 mutual transactions over the past year.
7 over the past 90 days. Both have bought and sold from one another.

http://toolhaus.org/cgi-bin/mutual?...eck&Limit=90

efj36 is both buying from nancye913 and selling to nancye913. Sometimes the same date and mintmark. nancye913 has come up more than once as someone who is doctoring coins. Do a google search on "nancye913 ebay".

The fact that this seller has multiple transactions both buy and sell with a questionable seller is a red flag to me. Now maybe nancye913 bought some coins from efj36 to "improve". Then efj36 noticed nancye913 as a buyer, looked at what they had to sell, bought from them, got burned and is an innocent victim in all of this. It just seems suspicious to me.

p.s. [edited to add]: actually, my last theory about getting burned kinda makes sense...

Kenkat, that explains my confusion--there's more to this story.
So I looked at nancye913's auctions. Their LWCs all look the same!

ebay has a free listing I think Feb 15th-28th so it didn't cost him anything to list them and I bet that is why he did this
