"lamination A thin piece of metal that has nearly become detached from the surface of a coin. If this breaks off, an irregular hole or planchet flaw is left." some folks collect them
A little sematics here, but it does make a difference...
A coin with the metal still attached is called a "lamination peel" - especially if the left over metal has become a hanging fragment...like a hang-nail.
A coin with the metal detached is called "delaminated" - meaning that the laminated piece has left the building and is no longer on the coin.
The former is usually more desired and is worth a little more to many collectors - not that either of them are rare or worth much to begin with.
