I'm new at collecting coins, and was hoping I could get some recommendations as to what I should look at getting next. Currently I have a 1941 P Quarter, 1941 D Mercury dime, 1959 Franklin P Half Dollar, 1941 D Walking Liberty half dollar, and an 1884 P Morgan dollar.

My recommendation is to get a Red Book and do a little roll hunting of modern coins and from there go with collecting what you like the most. No right or wrong. Collect what you like and enjoy the hobby!

Silver is nice to collect because it is a precious metal, but right now it is near historic highs- so if you buy it solely for precious metal content and hope for it to go up in the long run, you may get disappointed. Meanwhile common wheat cents and other non-precious metal coins have softened in value some- good time to buy those.

Find a coin type you really like and become a specialist. Or be a generalist that collects a little of everything. It's all up to you!

Sounds like you have a good start on the 20th century typeset. A couple Barber coins, a Peace dollar and you would be almost done.

Welcome! You could not have found a better resource. I agre with the collect what you like idea. Consider Lincoln cents (cheap to roll search and the rewards ar many). Not to mention that one of the worlds foremost experts (coppercoins) is a frequent poster here that plus the combined knowledge on this site is mind blowing. Anyway, good luck and have fun!

, whatever you decide on, there are more than enough experts on any coins your heart desires, whether it be gold, silver, U.S. coinage, or world coinage. Good luck and happy hunting!

It seems that you have received good advice. I started collecting coins when I delivered a paper route. In fact I wanted all my money in change so I could look for a new coin. My mother would make me give her money for household saving in paper. I hated that. Collecting should be enjoyable and rewarding to you. You will find your purpose in the coins you collect and can afford. Good luck, Enjoy.

You could buy a 20th Century Type Set Album and fill it. I think there are something like 28 or 30 coins in a complete album set. Dansco sells one. Littleton Coin Co. has a nice one also. As you're doing that, you might decide to collect the whole series of one of those coins.

Look at every coin and bill that ever pass by your hands .I remember received a 1934 five dollar bill 3 years ago from wawa also a mercury dime from wawa and always ask to check for old coins any coin jar you pass by , always check the rejects of the coinstar machine and don't forget a RedBook don't matter the year !
