I'm curious to know where everyone buys their foreign notes for collections. I've mainly been looking around on ebay and I found an online shop in Finland with some pretty cheap prices, but I have a hard time finding legitimate websites or shops that sell individual banknotes for a reasonable price. Most of the sites I have found sell 'dealers lots' or mixed sets of notes that are duplicates of really low valued notes. Also the coin shop nearby only sells extremely expensive old US currency and confederate notes, almost nothing foreign. Where do you guys look around for purchasing yours?

Quote: where everyone buys their foreign notes for collections. -one "newbie" from CPMF ( https://cdnpapermoney.com/index.php...msg68622#new sources notes at exchange houses/outlets. This is an economical (& fun) way to acquire world notes (no doubt). But, having said that, there will be many limitations because, in my mind, it's similar to studying Europeans by meeting as many people as you can at your local mall. Not only will it be exhausting, it will also be "hit & mostly miss." [Like buying mixed lots of cheap dealer stock] Sure you're bound to find a few Europeans (from 1 zone) who may be somewhat interesting, but will they be the ones you would want to make friends with? Will they be from the country you're most interested in (or because they're available)? Could you go to a cultural event (Octoberfest?) or say another venue (who celebrates St. Patricks, Marconi, or a Lithuanian folk hero) & find a different concentration of Europeans? Perhaps a poor analogy but focussing primarily on where one sources notes is a similar enterprise (IMO). I cover some of these topics on the video links below. With several inexpensive ebay sellers (& countless online sources) one should focus on what to collect. A new US currency collector asked a similar question on CCF recently: http://goccf.com/t/371904#3196026Just be patient & educate yourself as to what you think is collectible. One huge source for me has been fellow collectors (so I'm not paying through the nose). I think the best thing that has come about from FB World Money Groups is that several get into swapping banknotes (but again- be sure you know who you're dealing with).

I like this guy https://colin-narbeth.com/ who I have met a couple of times at the London banknote fair. He is always willing to chat and seems good to deal with. There are also many banknotes on Vcoins. These are dealers and need to earn a living so such things will not be at the absolute minimum prices (if you are buying many of the cheaper notes this soon adds up being more expensive than acquiring through ebay but buying from a dealer has its advantages too)
