Here is an image: I work in a bank and this came across our line this past week. Looks like its in nice condition. I'm very new to collecting and wondering how nice a find this is ? The mark on the right is from a counterfeit pen that my fellow teller used on it (before I could stop her!). Do those marks fade in time on these older bills like they do on newer ones ? The corner edges are nice, the lower left has a very slight bend to it. The back looks just as clean as the front. Please give any input you may have for this newbie! Thank you! -David

It's not hugely valuable, but still a very nice find.

I would keep it for sure, nice find.
And yes I have been told the pen mark will fade some over time.

Welcome to CCF. Very nice find. I am wondering if it also qualifies as a birth year S/N note? And on the bright side,at least that pen mark isn't three inches long John1

kanid99 welocme. Nice find on the $100 star at face value. Agree with Zee on the price, however my 2 cents is that some of these are under rated currently.

I see no reason for a premium, but then again, I've see Pawn Stars pay ridiculous prices for stuff, too.
What bank do you work at? I don't want to deal with idiots who think a pen works to detect counterfeits. Can't they afford a $10 black light?

I think that the reason for a premium is that total printing for the 1950A Boston $100 note was 1,008,000..... rather a large printing back then, but minuscule by today's standards... They tend to be rather scarce today, especially in that condition, and like everything else, there are folks who collect them, and are willing to pay premiums.

Seriously. We dropped those pens and invested in UV detectors eons ago after receiving one of those bleached $5's reprinted as $100. The pens work because they are real notes.
