Alrighty!

This is the first time I'm going to ask my bank for boxes. If they don't have any I'll try a few banks in the area. Wish me luck!

Cheers!

Any luck finding any boxes? I just love the responses/expressions some tellers give you. Reminds me of one time I spotted an Eisenhower sitting in the teller tray and I asked if I could take the dollar coin off her hands. She reached for the Presidential dollars she had in her tray and I said "no the big one". She was like, "oh, that's a dollar? I thought it was 50 cents".

That was awkward for my first time lol. But I suspect it will become easier in time.
I went to deposit a check at my bank and struck up some small talk with the teller. At the end I asked if she had any rolls/boxes of halves and she checked her tray. She said she had some but someone came in and bought them (any fellow CCF'er in Chino Hills, CA?). I said that she probably gets that question a lot but she said it rarely happens. I'll probably go back there and try and ask them to order some for me or grab whatever boxes I can.
Went to another bank of the same branch and while I was depositing some cash (yeah...I was nervous so I decided to deposit some extra cash lol), I noticed she had a few boxes on a cart behind her. Asked If I could buy the nickles and she propped them on the counter for me. woo!

All in all, a good first experience. Luckily, the banks weren't very busy. I'm shy and felt weird asking for boxes of coins. Next time should be easier.

Now...time to open this box!

Free tip:). Be sure to check the credit unions in your local area. Many use coin counters and must pay armored car services to pick up surplus coins. My credit unions happily sell me bagged coins rather than having to pay extra fees to ship them out. This also saves me time from not having to open a ton of rolls:).

Best of luck!

Be careful with credit unions. I know in my area many use them as a dump off point. It is free for 100 dollars daily and no rolling is needed.
I did notice on my receipt it will show new and old pennies or something to that effect. Is that the breakdown of pennies with more copper?
