It appears to be a Penny coin of George III of England.

It will be a halfpenny or farthing - they didn't make copper coins as large as a penny in 1772.

It is not a farthing.

Diagnostically, I do not believe it is a regal half penny due to the '2' on the reverse. Most likely a 1772 contemporary counterfeit British half penny; but not a Machin's Mills. The reverse does not match Vlack's 72A, 72B, or 72C. It is not an Anton/Kesse-83 either, the last stop on the reverse is in the wrong place.

So this is not a 1772 coin, is it just junk? Thank you for the replies.

No, it is not junk.

More likely than not it is a contemporary counterfeit. "Contemporary" meaning that it dates from that era.

Thanks CheetahCats! Coin collection is fun but can be pretty confusing. How would one put a value on this coin?

I agree with cheetahcats, contemporary counterfeit. This happened quite often back then. It is NOT junk and very collectible.

You would need to compare like specimens with this one that have sold, taking into consideration condition/grade.

I will say it is a common (relatively speaking) 1772 contemporary counterfeit; The reverse '2' is a primary diagnostic.
