I'm no expert but this is at an auction I will be attending. Can anyone see any signs of a fake?

This coin is highly FAKED...Your photo's are at an angle wo many things can not be seen...so if you attend the auction you need to know some things....research the VW source http://www.vamworld.com/1893-S+VAMsalso not there is a link to the "fake gallery" link......since you will be attending and only you can see the coin in hand..be sure to school up on the differences...Hope this helps...also research the prices so you know if it is real if you would be getting a deal...one point to remember on key coins..."Valuable coins, KEY COINS" most are not raw.. as there is some problem that keeps them from being graded. My meaning is they are worth less if you know what they are and if they would actually grade..so don't over spend....

your welcome.. I hate to see people taken by "TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE" coins... if its too good to be true you should really school up and know the difference.. There are many a good buy if you know the info...but many take advantage....and give you the great deal knowing, there is a problem, ...BECAUSE YOU DON'T know. until after the 3 day return .....by then you haven't been able to consult with those who know...and bought another great pile of crap...

"Valueable coins, KEY COINS" most are not raw.. I beg to differ on this statement posted above!!I recently had the opportunity to look at one of the finest collection of 19th century gold and silver coins, colonial coins, and Ancient coins in the Twin Cities area... worth mucho dinero. Not one of them was slabbed/TPG graded. And yeah, they were the real deal....My 1893S is "raw", with no problems, and I am keeping it that way....Google 1893S and you should be able to find out the key markers for the date...

That coin doesn't jump out and scream fake but there are many very good counterfeits of this piece. It's a $5,000 coin if genuine.

MY intent...is not to SAY your coin is fake.. but rather to say its a coin that is highly faked....and to learn what they do and the differences in a real coin and a forgery........I do not imply you have no knowledge........"raw or graded" coins we must all seek to understand the differences they try to slip by our eyes...

Please do not cross-post topics. I know you were in a hurry, but putting posts in the wrong forum will not help. https://goccf.com/t/82118
