I just found another "Pointed 5" in circulation and this is about the average condition I find.....I do not have a Canadian Coin Grading book so, I'm not great at grading Canadian coins.....so my question is "what is this avrage grade?"

You know Bill.. I have so much trouble grading Canadian coins, I really don't know...a guess, maybe EF.

Nice pointed 5 though, I have a couple of these.

In hand it may be EF-40...but from the picture if I was buying it on ebay I'd bid VF-30 prices. Nice find!

Even if the Numismatic value of a 1985 Pointed 5 in EF condion is only 3 or 4 bucks.......I would find it very, very difficult to toss any $3 variety back in the "wild".

I am very lucky to be someone that searches rolls for the "Hobby" of it....not for profit

littlemoney is right on the mark with reminding me not to have any illusions of great value because circulation.....when I do find little treasures like this in circulation....my heart beat always gets faster and I get excited with the find....it's always a "rush"

with being a person in recovery......this is the least expensive addiction I've ever had....and I find it very rewarding

Yeah I would say about VF30 also...I've been looking for one of these for some time now. They sell regularly on ebay for 12-15 bucks, even in lower grades like this.

I have to agree, even though it's the less-common, the real value doesn't show until the MS states. However, this is for grading, not value, LOL. {Even though those two terms are symbiotic}. Well, I do agree that it is above the F-12 range, in that the shoulder fold shows well, as does the drape under. The crown and rim beads are distinct.

The issue is with the Laurels on the reverse. The stem doesn't show distintcly through the middle of the leaves, and there is loss at the points of the leaves.

VF-30. If it wasn't for the reverse, I'd state EF.

In any case, congrat's on your find, wish I was that fortunate.
