I will say MS67. That is a NICE 50-D. Not FS IMO.

Obverse MS67 no sweat but the reverse I don't think so at all. Overall, it would get an MS66 I think and you're right, there are only 4 steps tops. It is a nice one though.

You are right, it was an ebay purchase. With shipping it came to about $13. I actually spent quite a while searching for a really nice one. I attempted a grade and think this might be Ms67, hopefully at least MS66. Pictures will show every mark, nick and blemish and I'm not sure at what magnification you should actually grade a coin. At some point you need to stop as eventually at some magnification, any and every coin will have something wrong with it.

I was pretty happy with the price, plus it has a great golden tone. Most raw uncirculated 1950d jeffersons seem to go for about the same price on ebay. Most are BU and not Gem, although many auctions claim Gem or full steps.

Beautiful 50D! I'm gonna give hunting for it a little longer, though I have to admit, I'm not holding out much hope wise.

Many years ago, the speculative bubble in 50ds broke. It was obvious it would happen, because you could sell three rolls at $1100 for every single at $27.50. Any smart investor would ask himself who the buyers would be, if collectors were only willing to pay the singles price for one coin, but there were 120 in the hands of investors who ultimately need to sell to collectors.
Eventually, rolls got down to $200-250.
