So I finally broke down and was going to pay the 5 dollars and order a box of half dollars from my bank. I ordered it last Wednesday and they said it would be in today 3-1. I went to the bank today and the manager said that they can't get the half dollars for me. So my question is what banks have people found that will let you order halves. Some big branches near me are PNC, Commerica, fifth third, flagstar, bank of america, citizens. Thanks in advance

Only depends on the head teller, nothing else, try another branch.

My bank will not order me a box of Halves for $5.00 either ! ...
Now....for $500.00 a box, they will order me all I want ! ...

Some head tellers and even managers actually don't know that they can order Halves. They think that the only Halves they come in contact with are what customers bring in.
I ran into this with my main branch.....I convinced the manager that they "could" order them, and that I had been ordering them for years from the other branches.
She "checked on it", called me back, and excitedly said that she was wrong and that they "could" order these for me after all ! She said she had no idea that they could order these. And happily asked how many boxes I wanted ?....

Ok so in my rush to get the post in before I left I realize I typed this very poorly. I broke down and order the box plus they charge 5 bucks extra. The manager of that branch told me she would put the order in and told me their orders come in on Tuesdays. So when I went into the branch today to pick up the box she told me that the company they order halves from won't send it to them. This is why I was curious what banks people have success ordering halves from because I have alot of banks within 5 miles of me.

Definitely try another branch or another bank. There's no hard and fast rules as to who will order for you or not and it really does vary alot. Example: there's a large Chase branch near my work, two mid-sized ones on my way home and a smaller one near my house. The large branch will order but charges a fee per roll. One of the mid-sized ones orders me 2 boxes a week as a standing order, the other won't order them but will give me whatever they have when I go in. The small branch won't sell me boxes or order them without a business account. All Chase branches - different policies. The two mid-sized branches are even on the same road two miles apart!

That is so weird... especially for a credit union (that is only for the county I live in). The manager also told me that the place they get their coins from (which is she told me is the fed) wouldn't do half rolls. Seems like the fed would do half rolls and boxes but who am I to question it without proof
