I bought a small lot of 10 world doubled dies, and this was one of them!

I'm pretty sure this is 1972P-1DO-002, but want confirmation before labeling it.

There was also a 1972D-1DO-001 in the lot that is just as pretty! I'll post that one a little later.

There's no question that this is a DDO. It's just a matter of which one. If this is die #002, I got the entire lot for about half the value of this coin.

As for how it works, it just boils down to developing fair and trusting relationships with other coin people and a little word of mouth.

A lot of my friends, colleagues and co-workers know that I buy coins. So, a lot of times, it's someone that knows someone that has coins for me to look at and give them a fair and honest offer.

In this case, a dealer I do business with knows I collect varieties and set them aside for me. I'm sure if he were selling a lot of incomplete planchets, he would have offered them to someone else.

It's all about the networking brother!

And for what it's worth, I gave him his asking price and didn't ask him to come down.

I posted both lines in case the program won't allow the larger size to appear on the site. Either way it should be accessible.

Scooby:

First, congrats on the purchase!

Regarding the 72 /ddo-002- Also, look for the die gouge on the bust next to the shoulder.

My 72-002 has this die gouge. That's how I got mine correct.

Check coppercoins for the pic.

Hope you got it!

Hopefully, these images are a little better.

I'm not seeing the die scratch as seen on coppercoins for die #002, but I am seeing a scratch a little further up the bust, coming out of the top of the lowest glowing area.

There are a die dot that matches on both coins. Look below the 2 on both images. It is SW of the upper loop. You can see that die dot on both images. So it is 002.

Thanks coop! Are those die dots above the 7 & 2, also?

They would be just out of the picture at coppercoins, if they are.
