This seller sells many fakes along with genuine coins and sometimes even buys holed and repaired coins and overgrades them and doesn't declare the damage. Not the biggest crime but here is his latest obvious horror: http://cgi.ebay.es/RAROS-4-REALES-1...em3365b0e0e0Easy to spot see the lack of detail on the petals, the washed out look and the missing detail along the top part of the front of the coin... A chinese counterfeit.

This ebay seller recently bought one coin from me, and requested to have my shipment fee reduced to $8. So I sent it via registered mail of Philpost. Unfortunately, in less than a month from the date of our recent transaction, she filed complaint from paypal. Normally the coin should have arrived in a month but the complaint is being filed ahead. Nevertheless just to make things easier to both of us I just refunded the payment in the essence of a happy ebaying. Had I known that this ebayer sells fake ones, I would have elevated it to a case to which paypal will have to decide. Thanks chops for the info.

chops Modern Counterfeit - not even a really good one. Pandesalapi If you use an ebay approved shipping method with tracking - you can win the case. But if it is sent regular post forget winning - PayPal sides with the buyer 99.9% of the time. So for shipment overseas you need to used FEDX or some other parcel tracker with end to end confirmation - it costs alot but it is the only safe way that PayPal will accept. I also see negotiation of postal fees as TACKY when done after bidding is over.

Until now I don't have any idea where the coin went, because it will take another month maybe for the returned card of philpost for me to get hold of. Moral of the story, never to allow negotiation to lower shipment fee. and to have the said ebayer put on my blocked listing - first time though

This isn't a lady. Its a man called Juan Perello Perez but he uses a lady's name to sell on ebay. Its either a fake name or its his girlfriends name. He used to be known as Juanpi on ebay before. This trick to Pandesalapi is known to happen to others by this seller but he wont do it to his best sellers. Only ones he wont buy from again.

I wouldn't trust it. Just too much of a risk considering his history of sales.

I really like the looks of this coin. I wonder if the seller would agree to a contingent sale? I have done this a couple times in the past. Tell the seller you will buy the coin BUT ONLY if it is first slabbed by one of the top three graders - PCGS, NGC or ANACS. Offer to add his costs of certification to the winning bid. If the coin is REAL he should agree. But if he KNOWS IT IS FAKE he will not agree. In my case of course, I am trying to prove a coin is a fake so I am hoping for a body bag. Then I negotiate with the seller from a strong position, knowing the coin is fake. I usually cover his costs plus $10 or so. This has only failed one time - I really had to buy one original that did actually certify for my bid. Of course, that one is real so the money was not wasted either. In your case, if the coin certifies - you pay the seller AFTER it does so plus the certification costs. If not you walk away. ebay will support your claim that the coin was a forgery and you will not be compelled to complete the sale.
