Hi everyone! I recently found this board through Google, wanting to know about the proof 2003 Utah Quarter that I found in change.
I began coin collecting at the age of 11 or 12 in the early 1960's. We lived outside a small town in Mississippi and on weekends my mother would drive me to town to search for coins at the two local banks. I would only have 5 or 10 dollars so I would concentrate on pennies, nickles and dimes.
I remember when a friend was looking for a 1921 Mercury dime and after failing to one at the bank got one in change at the local drug store. Those days are gone. I wish you younger collectors could have experienced the thrill of all of those semi-key coins that we found.
I only collected coins for 4 or 5 years and just recently gave most of them to my son.
I'm amazed at the new terminology. I guess the internet promoted this.

Yotie, I answered another thread on proofs found in circulation. I was suprised that there are so many proofs found in pocket change. I tried to post a pic but couldn't get the file size small enough. A few years ago I believe I used Paint Shop Pro. Is there a shareware program that I can use?

When I first started on here, I was directed to download InfranView. It was easy to set up and even easier for a computer illiterate like me to use.
