Hi folks, I found a 1857 Half Dime with a rotated reverse. Looks to be about 178 degrees counter clockwise. Condition is a good. I can't believe it could circulate all those years and nobody notice or care that the reverse was fully rotated. Looked at website that said it was R6, 13-30 specimens in various conditions. That sounds to me like it's rare. But, I suppose it's all in how many people want one. Hate to ask. But, any ideas on value?

Hello, and welcome to the forum.
Some coins are fairly common with rotated die errors (2-cent pieces, 3-cent nickels, and large cents come to mind) but I haven't heard that this error is often seen for Half Dimes. I doubt it would sell for a huge premium, but certainly it should sell for more than a normal coin in similar grade. I know I would pay extra!

Can you post pictures? If you put it in a 2X2 holder with 3 staples and show both sides you can clearly illustrate the degree of rotation.

If one attends a coin show and thumbs through dealer albums, such errors can be found. I've not before seen an 1857 Half Dime with a rotated die, but I've spotted many other early type coins as such. Personally, I believe that a serious collector of Half Dimes might pay twice the retail value. Clashed dies aside, I've not seen many Half Dime errors. Neat find ... I'll now watch for that one at shows!

Read the post about the 1913 Buffalo nickel with the rotated reverse.
I hope you really mean it is rotated. Many don't realize that all USA coins are made in such a way that when you flip them over from top to bottom, the images stay verticle. In many instances people turn them over from side to side and think the reverse is rotated. Hopefully you did put it in a 2x2 or similar flip to see this rotation.
Many of certain coins are famous for this and it seldom is noticed since most do not look for that type of error.
For value many collectors do not even want coins with any type of rotated reverses since if for a collection, they want them all to be as perfect as possible. This is generally true of reverses from 0 to about 45 degrees. Past that a little additional value is added on for error collectors only.
IF, in fact yours is really almost a 180 degree rotation, that usually means an error colletor would pay a decent premium for that one.

I attended a show this weekend. I eyed four 1857 Half Dimes there, but none evidenced any degree of rotation. I'll continue to look for one as circumstances allow.

Came across one by accident as well. In fine condition (at best) and has been cleaned to boot. Maybe these aren't as rare as originally claimed.
