Found it in a roll. Definitely a 192X-D... what's that last number?

Blown up a bit;

I'm gonna try to get better pics once my girlfriend lets me use her camera again... but that's gonna be a week or so.

I took your picture and tried every thing I could with contrast and brightness,I took certain colors out, sharpened it. Nothing helped it much. The only thing I can see is what looks like a straight line to the right of the bottom of the 2. The only number with that would be another 2. But it could also be a scratch. My guess is 1922.

I agree that this must be a 1922 or a slight chance of a 1920.

To me it looks like a 1928-D or like Meldude said, possibly a 1920.

I changed some of the colors around on the picture, and I cant see a 1922.

Please take an image of the entire obverse and reverse. It makes a difference.

The coin is so worn, I don't think pictures of the coin matter. It's extremely worn, down to what I'd call AG3 or FR2. Scratched in some areas, and also has a nice hole that doesn't seem to go through the coin.

Regardless, I'll post them in a bit.

In my opinion it's a 22 - take a look at the photos I've attached below.

I opened it in Photoshop CS5 (I'm a photographer) and boosted the contrast, burned in the area of the date and then sharpened.

Thoughts? Either way any 192x find in a roll is a great find!

I've seen a lot of 1922 d with a very weak 2 there.
I believe Mr. Daughtrey suspects the same and is looking
for some confirmation from the reverse.

I didn't have time to take pics of it last night between Fallout: New Vegas and putting together a list of crap I wanted to bid on at a big coin auction today. You'll get your pics tonight.

FWIW, most of the details and legend are mushy at best if present, lol. It's in rough shape.

And if you look at it long enough, I'll bet that D will start to look like an S.

Now that you mention it, it does look like a 1928 D

It appears to be a 1922D cent to me, but I have to ask an honest question here...why does it matter? At best the coin grades FR02, which makes it a cull and pretty much numismatically worthless.

Copper, it's a bit of a goal to put together a Wheat set from circulation for me. '22-D would be one of the tougher ones to find out of the way.
