Just acquired this Australia 20 cent 2010 Taxation Office Centenary commemorative.

New-Aussie-Comm.-+-Some-Devilment

Now for the devilment...
What are the chances of the US mint issuing a quarter commemorative for the 150th anniversary of the first introduction of income tax in the US?

(Taking three steps back and wait for the torrent of abusive replies...)

Not really convinced it was a good choice for a commemorative coin. I wonder if they will let me pay my taxes with them?

I'm not knocking the decision to mark the centenary of the ATO with a commemorative coin ...
althought I think that the denomination ought to have been 22-cents, to allow for the GST.

Seriously, how come this is a circulation issue, while numerous other centenaries are only commemorated &/or celebrated by NCLT ? The Lost Diggers of Fromelles, the sinking of the HMAS Sydney, to name but two, ought to each have a circulation coin that I can put in the hands of my sons, and then discuss the issues raised.

In the local primary school's staff room, there is a sign which reads:
"If you can read this, thank a primary school teacher."
Every time I see it, I want to add -
"And if you can read it in English, thank a sailor, a soldier, and an airman."
