Hi Members!
I recently started collecting US coins
Ive got 1 coin upon which I would like your help to know what is the
significance
Coin: One Cent
year:1948
Mint: D
Ive noticed a small error on this coin.In the year "1948" iam seeing
that digit "8" is punched over digit "6"
I can clearly see this error. But now when I search on net I do not find
any info about this kind of error with 1948 D Lincoln Cent
So I seek the experts here to help me know what coin do I've and its
importance
Thanks!

Your cent suffers from counting machine damage. This is rather common, and many new collectors find them and think they have an error. It's actually just damage. For knowledge sake there is no such thing as one date punched over another in Lincoln cents...the dates were hubbed directly into the master dies and transferred via hubbing to the working dies. Date punching ended with small copper at the end of the Indian Head cent.
