I don't see a great deal of value there as user IDs can be changed in a flash. It's also more personal. If you proceed, I think each addition should be thoroughly explained and documented. Criteria should be established too. For example, non-pay and feedback blackmail, OK to list. Just being a jerk in emails, no. IMO.

What about unwarranted bad feedback/ratings?

Interesting idea. However, in my experience, the only thing to flow from bad electrons is more bad electrons. If it's to lament your inability to secure a coin and need ideas, I'm all for it. If it's to vent against another member, I thought that's what the "Send a note to staff" was about. If you've been "ripped off", there are remedies in the law you can explore. That's a better course that airing a perceived injustices on the forum. A "bad rant" may harm or even defeat your ability to rectify the situation. That's just my 2 cents worth.

Just to clarify, I'm talking about ebay, not CCF.

Carmykle, I think he is suggesting an ebay discouraged buyers list, not a CCF one.

"What about unwarranted bad feedback/ratings?" That's a really tough call for me. I completely understand your point of view as a seller. I also know there are a lot of idiots out there, especially hiding behind keyboards and not employing personal filters. I think I'd have to go case by case on this. What do you do with someone who gives you a neutral or negative yet in the text says "Everything was great"? Perhaps a slightly different angle would work. Rather than the thread being Discouraged Buyers, how about Factual Accounts of ebay Sales Other Sellers May Find Useful? Or something like that. If people would stick to relaying factual accounts, then each reader can develop his own interpretation.

I think as long as it doesn't downgrade any CCF users it should be allowed... But not used to beat sellers and/or shops down... I can see this gettin ugly real quick...

Another coin-related forum does this and I've set my seller profile up to reject bids from "problem" buyers. The choice is mine and is based upon the information provided ... take it or leave it. I personally like the idea if it is done with civility. With the members we have on CCF and the quality moderators, it would be a benefit. Many times on the other forum the members offer advice to the poster based on their experiences on how to rectify a bad situation. Lots of good info sharing.

Most subjects are fine as long as they are a discussion and not a dog pile. --Keep it civil. --Keep it factual. --Keep it honest. We already have a "Discouraged seller" thread - just remember that one experience does not an entire buyer's personality make. Just like with the sellers, someone just could be having a bad week. Take all additions to the list with a grain of salt, until they prove themselves to be worthy of the block list
