I'm off to the Chicago Paper Money show today with my kid. This will be very intimidating for me, a large cent guy surrounded by all that paper! My kid collects US silver certs and old FRN's so we are making the trip for her, but I have yet to escape that show without buying something. Made no big mistakes to date but I'm like a babe in the woods at a show like this!

I know what you mean, Dan, it's hard to go by something that you don't really need but, will buy it anyway.. put blinders on.

Good luck, and happy shopping.

Who knows, you might grab some unchecked coin goodies while there, I can't see that there wouldn't be coins at a currency show, there's alway currency at coin shows.

Dan,you never know who you'll meet or what you'll find, sometimes you can find something unexpected when you're looking in the wrong place.
My brother-in-law collects banknotes and sometimes I'll go shopping with him,for moral support and because he usually goes with a few thousand cash in his pocket.Last year while he was looking at some uncirculated 1937 notes the seller asked me what I would be interested in looking at,I told him no bills for me,coins only.He reached into his desk and pulled out a bunch of Victoria 25cents,said they came with a lot of bills he had bought and he'd sell them at his cost.Took me a week to round up the money, but one of the best bargains I've ever made. You never know where you'll find what your looking for.

Enjoy the show! Sure, it might be for the daughter, but you never know what you'll find there. When I have my grand sons at a show, I always taget a quick easy find I need for one of my collections. I know my grand sons won't have the patience to really let me browse.

Maybe it's good that I bring them along, costs a lot less. But then I don't have a Grand Daughter yet.
