That's right. It's our good buddies over at abon/SGS/whatever else they call themselves these days.

These guys or guy has no scruples. He is using the internet as his own personal bank account. The sad thing is people are still buying his overgraded items and don't have a clue. He is making a living off of other peoples lack of knowledge. There is no telling how many other auction sites he is ripping people off on.

I figured you might like that example Bryan. Pretty good pictures but I don't believe the MS-66 grade. What are your thoughts on the grade?

oh definately not a MS-66, it may be a MS-64 if you are lucky but the way he takes his pictures they dont show alot of the marks thats on the coin so I usually just always take off about 2 or 3 points fropm their grade. I have to say theirs is alot closer than that "centles" guy with all the NNc coins, you have to take about 6 points off his grading sometimes more and they are all usually problem coins

Yeh, I was always wondering about him also. I have bid on both of these guys' stuff in the past before I knew any better. I am now so glad I never won any of it.

Rest in Peace

I agree with Bryan's assessment. There's too many contact marks on Liberty's face and field for MS-66; MS-63 or -64 might be more appropriate presuming he hasn't photoshopped the Morgan to erase other bag marks.

Aboncom aka SGS has been on the ANA's hit list for some time (along with estatedoctor), but the problem is that he stays on the sunny side of fraud and legality by simply overgrading his coins rather than trying to pass off counterfeits, altered, and problem coins as "BU" and Mint State.

The only good thing I can say about his auctions is that aboncom gives us a census of the numbers of uneducated buyers out.

I also wonder about the source of his incredible inventory of Morgans and other nice coins. It wouldn't surprise me that he's in cahoots with several estate lawyers who offer only a few cents on the dollar for little old widows' late husbands' collections.
