What a terrible box. Only managed to pull 1 x 1940, 2 x 1950's and the rest were all common coins. Not a single keeper in all. A lot of the coins were very nasty. Looks like they were sitting on the floor of someones car floor years before they were rolled up and cashed in. What a disappointment. My first box without a single US wheat back to be seen. I hope the next box is much better. The hunt continues.

My last box was just the opposite. I'm here in PA about 2 hours from Canada so I usually get alot of your cents here. Last nite I got at least one roll of 70-date, about 25 50's and 60's and 2 40's. This is not typical. I think the Fed bank is in Erie so that explains why so many. I save them all to give to a friend from Canada when he comes to visit in the summer. He brings me things he finds up there.

I get those kind of boxes all the time. Last one had 30 rolls of US pennies. All were 70's,80's & 90's, not one keeper.

I have lots of old Canadian pennies I received in change in a glass jar. What should I look for in terms of collect ability?

Check out this site for an idea on Canadian cent values. Its a good reference:
http://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins-prices.php
When viewing the site you can click on the coin year and you will get more information for that years coin.

Keys: 1922, 23,25 Semi Key: 1924, 26, 27, 30
Varieties to look for:
1929 High and Low 9
1936 Dot
1947 Blunt 7, Maple Leaf Blunt 7, Maple Leaf Pointed 7 (Not really valuable but multi varieties)
1953, 54, 55 Have multiple variations with and without Shoulder folds.
1962 Harp & Guitar (Check the date link @ Coins and Canada web link I provided)

There are several Hanging numbers through out the 50's and 60's. Hanging numbers are a result of a Obv die clash on the Rev. Click on the date for 1963 hanging 3 on the Coins and Canada website for a great example of what to look for for these varieties.

That is just a small list to get you started. Under each date link @ Coins and Canada...if you scroll to the bottom...there is usually links for noted variety & errors for the year.
