Here is a 1918 German 10 Pfg. elliptical clip error, I could not locate this piece in my Krause World Coin catalog...
After giving this additional thought, it may be a token instead of a coin ~ your thoughts...

You won't find this one listed in the coin catalogues because it's not a coin, issued by a national government. It's a notgeld token. As Germany began to lose the war, central authority collapsed and local authorities in the cities, towns and villages were forced to issue their own money. "Stadt Frankenthal" means "City of Frankenthal". The word missing from the bottom next to the 1918 date is "Kriegsgeld" - "war token". There are two cities named "Frankenthal" in Germany and both issued notgeld, though only this one issued metal tokens.
Don't say "infinitely" when you mean "very"; otherwise, you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite. - C. S. Lewis

Sap, Thanks for the info above... As I was posting this I thought that it may have been a token of some sort... I purchased it on one of the ebay global sites some time back, and it was advertised as a German Coin (with no mention of a error)and I purchased it for the *eye appeal (*IMO) of what looks like a steel smelter...

Note; On the bottom of ebay's home page are links to their global sites...

I have some random Notgeld laying around. They seem to pop up every now and then.

This is, unfortunately, not a genuine error. The clip was clearly done with low pressure, which caused warping in the metal. This is not a clean clip as you would expect on a coin minted in any European mint during this period.
