I bought a 2007 Australian 1 Dollar Silver Kangaroo months ago for $65.00. There is one currently on ebay and the bid is at $86.00 and climbing with over 4 days left to bid. A couple of days ago, one sold on ebay and the winning bid was $202.50. Both of these coins are ungraded. Does anyone know what is going on with this coin? Were the original mintage numbers lower than the 8,598 reported? I know silver has jumped since I bought my coin, but not enough to justify such an increase. Other coins in the series have gone up in price over the months but not nearly as much as the 2007. Really curious if someone out there knows why. Thanks.

2007 Australian 1 Dollar Silver Kangaroo had a mintage only 4000. Taht is the key date. The reported 8598 mintage is not the silver version.

Projack: Thanks for the response. I guess I got my numbers mixed up. None of the Roos in the series had a very large mintage. I see another one sold on ebay for $265.00. I checked a couple of big dealers online and they are completely sold out on the 1993 through 2007. They did have a few of the 08, 09, 10 and 11. Talked to a dealer in Portland, Oregon and he said he can't even get any of the earlier years. With Portland being the largest city in this state, I thought they might have some, but they didn't. Anyway, sure glad I have my set.

Zowie! That is huge! One sold on ebay here this weekend also. It went for $250. That's the highest price I have seen so far here. Another guy has 4 of them he's selling as a lot. It's a "Buy it Now" and is asking $1000.00. Lot of money, but it's a lot of coin too! $380.00.........Amazing! Thanks for the update Projack.

That is something. Never heard of a presentation specimen Kangaroo before. 500 certainly is a low number. $860.00 certainly is a high number. LOL. I wonder if they made any for the other years. What I really like though is the 2010 High Relief that has the boxing kangaroos on it. Love that coin.
