I'm new at the whole process of going to the bank to get coins to search. Right now I'm just sticking with my current local credit union. I obtain in one branch and dump in another but so far just asking for $xx in [insert coin type] yields me customer-wrapped rolls.
PENNIES:
So far I've searched $35 FV and here are my finds:
-Solid %20 ratio of pre-1982 copper (and Canadian copper - 2 rolls)
-10 to 20 wheats
-A 1998
Wide AM-A 1960 small date (maybe it was a '69 can't remember)
-A 1914, a 1923, a few 30's and 40's.
-2 rolls of 2009 Almost Uncirculated Lincoln formative years pennies probably from someones collection because one roll was straight one variation of these in pretty good condition
-NO pre-1909 pennies (or pre-1923 for that matter)
-5 uncirculated pennies from the 60's
-A good amount of AU or lightly circulated ones in the 60's and 70's
NICKELS:
So far I've searched about $30 in nickels:
-1 1938
-1 1957
-Bunch of LOL 1964's
-NO 2009's
-NO Buffalo's
-NO non-Jefferson's
DIMES:
Searched $10 so far
-Found nothing of note.
I have been pretty happy with this personally, but I want to make sure I'm not missing out on bigger/better.
Is this big enough of a sample to tell if I typically would have gotten any
Buffalo nickels, V-nickels, Indian head pennies, silver coins, etc by now or should I keep on keeping on with the customer rolls?
If you experienced guys were receiving what I'm describing would you stick with it or try to get bank rolls and/or find another bank?
I was hoping for at least one
Buffalo nickel or maybe an
Indian Head penny. I'm just not sure if I haven't searched enough yet or probably never will with what I'm searching.
(I'm using ESL In Irondequoit,NY. It isn't anyone else dump is it?)
Thanks in advance for any advice/comments.
