I am just a bit confused as to why this coin sold for so high without being "officially" graded. I am guessing the veterans can tell what grade it is in from the photos and bid accordingly? It just seems for this price that it should be slabbed/ graded/ etc.(my apologies. I am a newb and just getting acquainted with grading/pricing etc.? thanks for any info!

One thing to note is that Great Southern Coins has a reputation for coins that look better in photos than they appear in hand.

They have some of the best photo wizards in the business.

I believe the typical Great Southern transaction is at a high mark-up to the true market value of the coins. The reality, unfortunately, is that there are lots of collectors who are "dazzled" by the pictures, pay too much, and then are reluctant to admit their mistake and do a return when they get the coin in hand.

the coin goes for $95-$350 between ms60-63 (2011 red book-- 1904 straight) -- that may be their "opinion" but as stated above it isn't professionally graded. Also with silver price-- the Morgan is one of the most popular coins in the world now.
