I have always been very leery of buying a coin off the internet and this past Thursday I ordered an 1900-O Morgan dollar through a web site devoted to selling coins, stamps and cards (sports, etc.). It was NOT ebay. I received the coin today and am very pleased with both the quality of the coin and the promptness of the delivery. It came from Seattle, Washington. It is graded MS-64 by PCGS. Price was fair, not telling, and the shipping with insurance included was $5.75 which was reasonable. I wouldn't hesitate buying from this coin dealer again or any other dealer posting coins to that web site.

Gyrene - Just curious - not that I'm trying to be nosy, but why wouldn't you tell the forum your purchase price? I'm new so I'm trying to understand. Perhaps it is an etiquette thing - I am not sure. If I bought a coin, and I thought it was a fair price, I would post it to let other members gauge their transaction with current market value. Nice coin btw.

Way cool! Looks like it's in a TPG or GSA holder. I'm just guessing but it's a great coin. Lightly toned and looks like a solid MS-63+. I wish my first on-line purchase went as well. I think I got mine of off Yahoo, before ebay was even popular...I thought the guy's photo was much better than the coin. Well done. High retail could be $60 - $210 depending on the holder. (GSA would have the highest retail.) I would check out numismedia for more current prices when you buy.

I agree with the previous comments - it's a nice coin and if you got it for a reasonable price, please share the web site and/or dealer's name.

To some it's a hobby, to others, it's an obsession!

Nice champagne toning and a great example. Some people don't like telling what they purchased things for because they don't plan on keeping them. Never a problem with me I'm not into flipping items.

"it was NOT ebay" is that an implication that ebay isn't a good place to shop ?

ebay can be a dangerous place to shop for coins for the inexperienced.

for the inexperienced yes, for the knowledgeable, it is often a treasure trove of goodies.
