First thought on seeing this was ok, got one. Went and checked coppercoins and lo and behold nothing close to this. Sure would appreciate the opinions of you more experienced folks.

Hi,

I can't really see what you are driving at. I am assuming that you have a question about the mint mark...I see nothing unusual based upon this image.

Thanks,
Bill

I've found similar to this one before. I don't have an image right now, but area in question seem to be like a partial punch. But I could just as easy be Machine Doubling. I still have the one I found.. somewhere. But it isn't a RPM. I share your disappointment. My was even a BU coin. Sometimes a coin can just make contact and make the same mark. The reason I knew it was a RPM is that the center look of the mint mark should have a mark like the upright. Yous doesn't. (mine either)

Hey Coop thanks for the reply, I went through pretty much exactly what you are saying. It has some body and depth to it and there are RPM's from other years which have much less than this. The 1980D 1MM-001 was one that came to mind when I first saw this with the rotation and separation it has. Plus it should have something showing on the inside loop of the D but it doesn't just like you say. So reckon I am going to put it in a 2x2 and leave it with a question mark and see if time has an answer.
Thanks for the help everyone.
