Well, this week was a bit unusual for obvious reasons. I think the big dips in the big four pm's in the first two days of the week was no surprise to me or many, but once again like a tough Rocky comin of the ropes, they are persistently overcoming the obstacles on their way up back up the mountain, as silver an gold have already recovered nicely back up close to 36 dollars, and gold is a wee bit beyond 1400 again....
I have not been tracking this for long, and I know platinum and palladium are up big in recent years according to what you guys told me if memory serves me correctly, but they have really took a hit (even though they have recovered a bit as well in the end of the week), and seem to be on a bit of a different track than silver and gold, any thoughts? Gold and silver will see some upward movement, silver more than gold. But you really want to watch copper. With supplies really low,as the rebuild of Japan begins copper could really take off. I know it is not a precious metal, but it increases $1.50 a pound we will see a real scramble for pre-82 cents. If you haven't already, start your copper hoard now and hang on for the ride.

It's right around 150 cents/lb. give or take a few. At present, that makes a pre-1982 cent worth about 2.9 cents each.

Tracking the PM roller coaster daily can be very nauseating.
Dollar cost average, buy what you can, when you can. And remember, its not how much your silver is worth, its how much silver you have.

Vinnycoin, although I agree with you,it is difficult to make my wife understand why a day of huge price drop is not a problem! Sometimes an"us" investment is more difficult to make in a volatile world. My wife is really pretty good about it and she trusts my judgement but she gets jittery a lot easier than I do so I try to keep her "ignorant" of day-to-day moves for her own good!

Well Hockingzig, tell her you have it al tied up in pm's instead of trying to beat the point spread and win 7 out of 10 in the NCAA tourney, rof !! Safest gamble currently on the planet if you ask me. I grew up around book keeping, and I promise the house always wins in long run, so that is why I have personally never gambled, even a waste of a dollar on a lottery ticket, legal here in my state of course.... Until now, I gamble on silver and gold....

Hockingzig,
Unfortunately you don't get any sympathy from me. I have problems trying to explain to my wife why I paid 35 dollars for a coin that says its only worth "$5 dollars" :( Of course, when she spends $50-75/oz on the latest face cream, its completely worth it.
Consider yourself lucky your other half at least understands that PM's in the long run are a good bet :P

I'm with you on that silverhawk! I am very conservative as an investor and I don't gamble. To me(and I got into gold at the $600 level)PM's are the closest things to sure things as long as the dollar keeps dropping. My other"sure bet"is food items with a long shelf life. Other than that it is stay out of debt and keep enough cash on hand to get by for 3-4 months I have a very low tolerance for risk, that's why I will never be "wealthy"!

I am way to conservative by nature to ever be wealthy as well Hockingzig....
Vinnycoin, that 50 to 75 dollar face cream gives us all enough of a go-ahead to buy a little pm's here or there IMO. Goodstuff, lol....

I have my flaws but, fortunately, that is not one of them! The ability to go out on financial limbs earned me a lot of money in the 1980s and 1990s. Lost a bunch in 2001 and 2008. Not to worry. Be patient. It WILL return. Invested money is a lot like the tide... it rolls in and it rolls out. On average, though, more rolls in than out.
My PM buying, though, is more about having financial insurance against political idiocy trashing the dollar. A lot of that has gone on already, especially in recent years. A personal silver hoard, however, will help guarantee that my family and I continue to eat, come what may. If nothing tragic comes and the paper investments continue to perform well, all the better. I can always leave the hoard to my kids and grand kids.
