I was offered to buy some pre 1930s LWC and Indian cents. How much would you pay for 200 Indian cents and 1500 pre 1930 LWC? I will not see them until I own them nor do I know anything more on their condition. I want to offer a fair price and not take too much risk as a buyer. Thanks!

until I saw them I would offer 300 for the LMC and 300 for the Indians. that .15 each on the cents X 1500 and 1.25 each on the Indians x 200, but I'm not a professorial.

Anytime I consider buying lots like this sight-unseen, I always assume the worst, meaning I assume they are all worn out common dates. If a seller told me that all the wheats were pre-1930, I would have to assume they were all, or at least nearly all Philly mint, rather than D or S mint.

Pre-1930 wheats bring about .15 each retail, give or take a little, when sold by the bag.

For the Indians, I would figure they were all in the range of AG/G/VG. Probably all are 1880 and above, and some likely have problems. These retail for $1-$1.25 a piece or so.

1500 X .15 = $225.00
200 X 1.00 = $200.00

I would guess a coin dealer would probably offer about 25-50% of that, and maybe even less if they already have too much of this kind of inventory.

Something else I always keep in mind is how much I'm interested in the coins. Personally, I have little to no interest in common-date junk wheats and Indians, which means I won't pay anywhere near retail for them. I would simply buy them to resell them for a profit and use the profit for coins that I am interested in.

I can tell you what the local dealers are buying and selling them for here.
Most of the Indian heads coming in are AG to VG common date and are bought
for 50 cents each and sold for 65 cents. The local flea market guys will
come in and buy them to sell at their table for $2.00 each.

For wheat cents they are bought for 1 1/2 to 2 cents and sold for 4 cents each.

When I am buying large groups like that, I will check with my local coin shops
and see what they are buying and selling for. Then start out offering around the
buying amount, depending on if I am buying them for myself or buying them to sell.

I would offer .05 on the wheats and .50 on the Indians.
If the Indians are G4 common dates you can maybe sell them to a shop for the .50,
the wheats you can alwayus get .05 for them. You could go higher because they are
early enough, but I wouldn't go too high. If you get stuck with junk you want to be able to at least dump them at the dealer for break even or slightly lee, consider it a lottery ticket.
I will sell you common G4 indians for .75

At a coin show today a dealer had a real large bag of those Indian Head cents. I aaked what they were like and he admitted he alread searched and most were really worn. Not sure of the price ether. From the looks of the bag though, I'd guess in the thousands.

The problem would be how worn, what dates, damaged, etc. For example those 1500 LWC coins could be really shot and worth only Copper. The Indian ones too could be the same.
Would you buy a car without seeing it? I wouldn't buy anything sight unseen.

As carl said....they could all be culls....damage, corrosion, etc. I'd error on a side of caution if you're buying them, 5 cents each, including the Indians, would be conservative.

Just curious. Why not ask if you could sort of look through them. Maybe not inspect them all real carefully but just sort of look them over.
