The other day I was given change and one of the quarters was a 1964 silver quarter dollar with these strange raised squares in the shape of a triangle? Meaning, one on top, two on the bottom just in front of George Washington's nose. And below that is "In God we trust" on the left of Georges neck. The others I've seen is on the right? When I first seen it, I thought of micro chips embedded in the coin.

Do you know what this is? Silver-Quarter-Dollar-With-3-Marks.-1964

I would be glad to help you out if you could post some pictures. And you should post this in the variety/error section of the forum. Sounds like a cool find!

mbraselton - interesting find - the quarter is very well preserved - so I don't think it has been in circulation long. The three raised squares look like something glued to the surface. Have you looked at it (the seam) under a microscope to see if there is a glue layer or to see if you can make out what the chips are composed of?

I always save coins with interesting stuff applied to them. Just today in my study of copper vs zinc pennies I found a cent with a colorful sticker on one side.
