Since the Mint had their press release that they will offer the Uncirculated ASE and AGE with the "W" mint mark seperately and not only in the 20th anniversary sets. I am seriously thinking about cancelling all my orders, I know it is still the only way to get the reverse proof but the other two coins are just regular coins now and its hard to pay such a price for one special coin especially when you thought there would be two coins that were special in the set. Here is the press release on the Mints website and please tell me what you think http://www.usmint.gov/pressroom/ind...lease&ID=712

I cancelled 8 of my 3 peice silver sets and also cancelled 8 of my 3 peice Gold sets, I didn't have any of the 2 peice gold/silver sets. I still hve 2 of each coming but that will be one to keep and maybe one to sell down the road. I think the mint messed up big time by releasing the W mint marked Uncirculated like they are because I beleive there will be alot of people cancelling their orders and the 3 peice gold sets may not even sell out once everyone cancells most of their orders. I know alot of people bought the maximum (10) and now they have said they cancelled part of their order, so if everyone cancells 5 out of 10 they will have alot coming back on the market VIA the mints website in the next month or so

I only ordered 2 of the silver sets. I will keep my order in. Since that is the only way to get a reverse proof. Now if they start selling the reverse proofs for 20.00 then I will cancel.

I only ordered 1 set of the silver and will probably keep it for the reverse proof.
I think the mint messed up by pulling this stunt.

I have to agree, the Mint messed up big time. It was the wromg thing to do after taking orders for the sets. I only have 2 silver, so for now I'll keep them BUT if there is news of releasing the Reverse Proof, BYE BYE.

The mint has been selling these coins in a devious way, IMHO. They couldn't have decided in the span of 2 weeks to release the uncirculated W eagles. The price on the sets was jacked up to begin with, and if you do the math you're paying a lot for that reverse proof. Take the silver set, for example: $19.95 for the Uncirculated $27.95 for the Proof So you're paying $52.10 for a reverse silver proof if my calculations are correct.
I can't imagine too many people hanging onto the 2 coin set. You're paying over $100 for the special presentation box for them! It's really just not worth it. I think that the mint is going to be getting massive cancellations for these.
I'm kinda glad that I didn't have the money to buy a set. Even though I've got the cash now, I'm not spending it on this set. For $100, there's so many other coins that can be bought.
And falling gold and silver prices aren't really helping too much either.

This is nothing more than another attempt by the U.S. Mint to control the secondary market. I know of NO other mint that make such an effort to keep their collector coins from going up in value after the initial sale. They figure if they flood the market no one will make any money except themselves on that ounce of silver?

sorry to hear everyone is canceling their orders. I guess that 10 years down the line, when that one silver reverse becomes worth $1,000.oo we all will wish that we had bought all ten of the sets.
Guess I'll keep my order as is and hope that 10 years from now I'm right on the value of this one coin.

I'm with Old Dan. I'll keep my small order, and will be excited to see it when it arrives. That doesn't mean I'm happy with the mint.

I agree with OldDan and Gary Burke, If everybody cancels their 3 piece Silver sets, and the mint is unable to sell all they produced, it will make the silver reverse coin much more valuable. It won't be for me, but my descendents.. Think long and hard before you make what could be an irrational decision, because we are dealing with money.. Berry
